It started with a simple email from the assistant headmaster, looking for a local caterer who would be interested in making healthier menu options available for the school lunch, and would benefit from the use of their kitchen.

Always being community minded and promoting the ideals of a healthy lifestyle & planet, what could be a better opportunity for Thrive than making school lunch healthier?

A beautiful and unique partnership was born, and Thrive took over the lunch program. We began by adding equipment to the kitchen to make this made from scratch cooking in large quantities possible and creating an innovative healthy menu that still appeals to kids’ palates.

St. Andrew’s School is an independent and forward thinking school for grades Pre-K to 12, located on Wilmington Island. The myriad of events and projects that SAS and Thrive partner on is constantly growing – from gardening, to developing a cafeteria recycling & composting system, to student cooking clubs.

I am very impressed with the commitment of Thrive to provide the St. Andrew’s community with fresh, healthy, delicious food choices every day. In more that twenty years of working in schools, I have never eaten school lunch until now.

The staff are great and so are the muffins!  They make us [the cooking club] feel very welcome when we come into the kitchen Friday mornings!
